SALCOMBE BOATYARD

A family business by the water

Local knowledge, real product experience

Stones Boatyard is rooted in life on the Salcombe coast. The team do not just sell YETI, Big Green Egg and marine products from behind a counter. They use them at the beach, on the boat, around the BBQ, on fishing trips and throughout busy days at the yard.

That practical experience means the advice is grounded in real use, whether you are choosing a cooler for days on the water, finding the right Big Green Egg accessory, or looking for durable kit that can handle coastal life.

Kate Brooking

Kate Brooking

Customer Service, Orders & Product Support

Kate has been part of the Stones team for two and a half years now, bringing a background in accounting and customer service, and a genuinely hands-on knowledge of the products, having picked and packed more YETI and Big Green Egg orders than she can count. A true local, Kate grew up by the sea and has cooking and the outdoors woven into everyday life. Her go-to YETI is the Lowlands Blanket - perfect for beach days with her two girls.  Her favourite Big Green Egg accessory has to be the rotisserie, though she'll casually mention she also did Christmas turkey on it. Weekends are full-on: adventures with the family, progress on the house she's literally building herself, and the occasional bit of recipe testing for the family brewery. Oh, and she fishes too - somehow she finds the time.

Tris Stone

Tris Stone

Owner, Boatyard Lead & Marine Specialist

Tris has been at the helm of the Stones family business for 22 years, and there aren't many people who know the Salcombe Yawl - or this coastline - better. Whether he's out on the water fishing, building, or maintaining boats, you'll rarely find him far from the sea. He has a passion for the iconic Salcombe Yawl, and looking after customers' boats is very much his thing. When it comes to kit, Tris swears by the YETI GoBox Loadout - he has one in every size, doubling as tool boxes and fishing tackle storage. On the Egg, he's mastered the perfect steak using the cast iron searing grid, and with the BGE firing up most days for family meals or beach sessions, he's had plenty of practice. When he's not working, you'll find him bass fishing or at Twickenham watching the rugby - a man who's pretty much always outside, whatever the weather.

Liz Stone

Liz Stone

Co-owner, Food & Outdoor Living Enthusiast

Liz has been the other half of the Stones operation for 22 years, though her day job is actually in TV - producing food programmes, which means she brings a seriously good eye for great cooking and kit. When she's not on set or helping out at the Yard, you'll find her outside - walking the dogs, paddleboarding, or wild swimming whatever the season. Her YETI of choice is the 14oz Mug, because a good cup of tea is non-negotiable, and on the EGG she loves the Dutch oven for slow-cooked curries and stews that are worth coming home for. Weekends are all about family time with Lily and James out on the water - which, for this lot, is pretty much the ideal day.

Marketing, Events & Product Advice

Hannah has been part of the Stones team for three and a half years, covering the marketing and events, she's someone who genuinely uses and loves the products she talks about every day. You'll find her paddleboarding, out on the boat, or cooking for friends and family at the weekend. Her favourite YETI is the French Press - she's serious about her coffee, and that second pour staying hot is apparently a game changer. On the Egg, her go-to is the baking stone for homemade pizza nights with the kids. When she's not at work or on the water, it's all about family time, good food, and making the most of being on the doorstep of some of the best coastline in the country.
