Is the YETI Hopper Flip 12 the right size for me?

The Hopper Flip 12 is a good mid-sized choice for lunch and drinks for one or two people. It fits 24 cans only, or 7.0 kg of ice only, and weighs 1.5 kg empty. At 32.1 cm wide x 25.4 cm deep x 29.2 cm high, it is compact enough for day trips without feeling like a full-size hard cooler.

Is it suitable for boating, fishing and beach days?

Yes, this is a practical soft cooler for days on the water, fishing trips, paddleboarding, beach days and short camping trips. The compact cubed shape is easy to carry, the wide-mouth opening makes loading simple, and the tough DryHide shell is made to handle UV rays and punctures better than an ordinary soft cool bag.

Is the Hopper Flip 12 leakproof?

The Hopper Flip 8 uses YETI’s Hydrolok zipper, which is designed as a leakproof zip when properly closed. It is still worth packing it sensibly and keeping the zip clean, especially around sand, salt and food spills. For boating, beach days and the car boot, it is a tough, compact cooler, but it is not a substitute for a dry bag for valuables.

How long will it keep ice?

It has closed-cell rubber foam insulation for strong cold-holding, but there is no fixed ice-retention time because it depends on weather, packing, how often it is opened and whether the contents were pre-chilled. For best results, chill drinks beforehand, use plenty of ice or a YETI Ice Sheet, and keep the lid closed between uses.

How do I clean and store it?

Clean the inside, outside and zip with mild washing-up liquid, water and a gentle cloth. After use, especially with food, bait or beach sand, leave it fully open to air dry before zipping it closed for storage. Avoid putting it away damp, as proper drying helps keep the cooler fresh between trips.
