YETI Roadie coolers are built for proper use, not just the odd picnic. The insulation is much thicker, the construction is tougher, and they hold ice for far longer than most standard cool boxes. If you’ve ever had a typical plastic cool box go warm halfway through the day, you’ll notice the difference straight away.

In real use, a well-packed Roadie will comfortably hold ice for a full weekend, often longer. The key is pre-chilling it, using enough ice, and not opening it every five minutes. We’ve found they perform best when properly packed rather than half empty.

Meltwater can be easily drained through the built-in drain plug, so you’re not left with everything sitting in water. For best results, it’s also worth using YETI ICE alongside regular ice, as it’s designed to help keep everything colder for longer.

Most people end up going for the YETI Roadie 24 Cooler. It’s a great all-round size for day trips, the beach, or keeping drinks cold on the boat. If you need more capacity, the wheeled versions are worth a look, but the 24 tends to be the one people come back to again and again.

This is where the Roadie range really works well. The smaller models are easy to lift, fit neatly in the car, and don’t feel like a chore to carry. The larger models, like the Roadie 32, 48 and 60, come with wheels, which makes them ideal for pulling across the beach or along the harbour when fully loaded. You get the extra capacity without it becoming difficult to move around.

You can, and they work better than most people expect. It's worth pre-warming the cooler with hot water to help retain heat for a good few hours. We’ve heard of customers using them for everything from roast meats and sausages to keeping a takeaway warm. A Roadie is perfect for keeping fish and chips warm; load them up at the chip shop and head back out on the boat so they’ll still be properly warm when you're moored up and ready to eat.

If you’re regularly out on the water, heading to the beach, or away for weekends, they quickly prove their worth. They’re built to last, perform properly, and you won’t find yourself replacing them every couple of years.
